Toddler 2 September in Review

“Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future.”

- Dr. Montessori

We welcome your family to this very special environment. Every young member of our group is adapting very well to their new surroundings. Each day our classroom is filled with a happy hum as children go joyfully about their work.

The upcoming year will be filled with some great challenges, and even greater rewards. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at any point so we can support your family's experience in Toddler II.

“The life of the spirit prepares the dynamic power for daily life, and, on its side, daily life encourages thought by means of ordinary work."

- Dr. Montessori

Some of the most meaningful classroom activities in a two year- old program involve caring for the immediate environment. Whether indoors, or out, the child at this age greatly enjoys cleaning up spills, sweeping up dirt, washing dishes, or myriad other tasks. The child sees the adult carrying out these activities and wants to learn to how to do them, with the understanding that they are contributing to something outside of themselves. By two years of age, the child has formed great bonds with the people closest to them and is seeking wider connections. Helping in one's surroundings is exactly the type of work the child can do to nurture this marvelous growth. That is why you will hear so much about Practical Life work and activities that involve caring for the classroom environment.
