Toddler 2 October in Review

Stringing beads is one of the activities I have found to be quite effective for building a child's concentration. To begin, the child holds the thread at the point of insertion. Grasping a bead with one hand using a pincer grip, the child inserts the thread into the hole of the bead. Next the bead is transferred to the other hand, the thread is grabbed with the free hand, and pulled through the bead. Now the child can pull the bead all the way down the thread to the knot at the end. The actions are repeated until the all the beads are on the thread or the child feels satisfied. Stringing beads is a fantastic method for developing fine motor control and hand/eye coordination.

"The first essential for the child’s development is concentration. The child who concentrates is immensely happy."
