Toddler 1 April/May Newsletter

We are thrilled to finally be able to visit the playground after our long but cozy indoor winter. There has been so much growth in the area of physical development since we last attempted outdoor activities way back in December.

Everyone has mastered pedaling trikes; now they are approaching the scooter as their next challenge. Everyone is practicing the trapeze, with or without using a stool to reach. Carrying heavy objects is still a favorite pass time; most have figured out how to make it up the ladder to the climbing structure and slide down on their own.

The indoor days gave us many opportunities for group cooking projects. One favorite was baked kale chips. Our recipe: one head of kale, washed and dried (we used a salad spinner); 2 T olive oil; sea salt. Preheat oven to 275. Remove kale ribs, cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces; toss with olive oil and salt. Bake til crispy, turning half way, about 20 minutes. Sprinkle with lemon juice. The best part is, the toddlers gobbled up every bit! (Did I mention it was kale?)
