Batik Printing in C1

Classroom 1 did a batik project for their individual and classroom live auction project.

The batik process we used involved printing on fabric by using a resist on a patterned block and stamping the block on the fabric.

Once the resist dried the children sprayed the fabric with different colors of dye. The pattern from the block shows up lighter and created a design on the material.

For the live auction project the children then used the fabric they printed and dyed and made a quilt. They hand stitched 92 stitches in the quilt and then with the help of Diana and Eileen Storm binding was sewn on to complete the quilt.
