July 2019 Classroom 1
Dear Classroom 1 families,
It has been such a pleasure getting to know you all this summer. Thank you to everyone that has been able to sign up for the snack donation and the pool parent volunteers. These are alway so helpful and very much appreciated. So far it has been a smooth start to summer. Everyone is getting to know each other and making new friends quickly.
For our first swim lesson on June 28th we did practice walking to the pool and proud to say it took us a quick 15 minutes with our new walking route. Unfortunately we were not able to swim because many children did not have their swimsuits. However it was a great opportunity for the children to meet the swim instructors, play games, learn safety tips and read some books. Regardless to the weather, each Friday please bring your child to school in their swimsuit with a backpack, extra clothes and a towel. Thank you again for remembering to apply sunscreen and bug spray in the mornings it is very helpful.
So far we have had three special guest our first was Heather a dental hygentist from Total Care Dental. She reminded us how important it is to brush our teeth twice a day for 2 minutes each time and making sure a grown-up always helps afterwards.
Our second special guest was Ali Muldrow. She reminded us that children as young as 3 years old begin to create there own bias and how important it is to to talk about what those bias maybe and how to treat all people with kindness and respect regardless to who they are, what they look like and how they choose to express themselves. We also talk alot about compliments and how we can use our words to encourage others.
Most recently we had Logan from the Aldo Leopold Nature Center visit our classroom. We talked about Wetlands. What they are and what kinds of animals live in this habitat.
We are also very excited to announces the arrival of some new friends in our classroom, Caterpillars! We will nurture them and watch them transform into butterflies. They are turned into chrysalis and we released them into our outdoor classroom this week. We have added many works to our science area so we can learn more about the life cycle of butterflies and toads!
You may have also hear we are having a Backpack Drive at Woodland to help friends in our community with school supplies they may need. Please feel free to donate school supplies as you are able in our backpack drive bin.
Thank you in advance for all of your contributions. For us it is a wonderful experience partnering with you as parents to nurture, love and educate your children, Our future!
