Head of School Update - December 2019
Dear WMS Community ~
Woodland's Future - Did you know that Woodland turns 50 years old in 2020? Using the results of two feasibility studies, I have been working with the Board of Directors, Amanda White Consulting, and Supreme Structures to craft a smart and strategic plan to prepare our school and buildings to thrive for another 50 years. We will keep you posted as the Board finalizes a strategy.
Staff Longevity - During this season of gratitude I am so moved by our dedicated teachers and unmatched staff longevity. Did you know that there is an early childhood teacher shortage in Dane County this year, and yet we were fortunate enough to not have to hire a single new teacher? Furthermore, more than 50% of our high quality staff has worked her for over 10 years, and 25% for more than 15 or 20 years! Thank you teachers for dedicating your careers to caring and nurturing young children - we are all so grateful!
Parking - Our neighborhood is very dear to us. We like to think of ourselves as being a part of the Baycreek neighborhood and contributing to the community in meaningful ways. We did recently get a call from our alderperson that one of our neighbors was upset with Woodland families blocking their driveway. They missed a doctor appointment because of it. Please help us keep our positive neighbor relations and follow all parking rules every day. Thank you!
Everyone please have a safe and wondrous winter break.
