Last week the toddlers reached out to the Woodland community for help with a project that incorporated Maria Montessori's philosophy of the benefits of mixed-age grouping in the Montessori classroom.
Two Woodland Summer Camp Elders helped a few toddlers gather basil from the preschool garden for our class cooking project.
They escorted us to the outdoor space, taught us how to identify basil leaves, and showed us the best way to pick the fresh and fragrant herbs.
We included the delicious basil in our recipe for Green Goddess dip, which we enjoyed with cucumbers from Carolina's garden.
An all-around organic experience!
