Hello and welcome Classroom 1 summer families. What an amazing start to summer it has been. We are having so much fun that the days seem to fly by. It is exciting to see the children having new interests, making new friendships and exploring new areas of the classroom.
Cooking with Jenn is going great. So far we have made banana bread and quiche. Please remember we will be cooking weekly. We welcome any snack and baking donations.
During our Spanish lesson we are learning greetings, colors, and numbers. We are practicing how to say how old we are. We are learning how to roll our tongues to make the Rr sound and ñ sounds.
In FitKids, our goal is to teach the children the importance of moving our body’s and learning new and fun ways to exercise.
After lunch we enjoy story time with Danni each day before rest time. Our most recent guest, Jefferson from the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, brought many taxidermy animals native to Wisconsin.
In the book The Absorbent Mind, Maria Montessori says,
“To let the child do as he likes when he has not yet developed any powers of control is to betray the idea of freedom.”Maria Montessori believed in freedom within limits?“ Freedom within limits is the idea that with increasing personal rights comes increasing responsibility. In a Montessori classroom children have the freedom to choose their work, when they have taken on the responsibility of controlling their bodies, following the rules and can respect the rights of others. This structure promotes natural development for a child to become self discipline.
