We all will be saying goodbye to our dear Mai, who has agreed to come for visits including Pancake Day and The School Sing. Mai will finish our her time at Woodland in the afternoons through February. During the rest of the month we will have the following changes to overlap with Mai for support and training during the transition. As of February 17th:
We will also be welcoming Jaelan from Madison college into classroom 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Heidi Hallmark as our new bookkeeper!
Hello! My name is Jaelan. I'm enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program at Madison College.
You will see me here Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30-12:00pm. A few things about me, I love music. I play a few instruments but my favorite is the marimba (think of a large xylophone.) I have 1 cat but live with a total of 3 cats. When I'm not working or at school I like to read, play/listen to music, watercolor and spend time hanging out with my friends. I'm excited to be in the classroom and get to know you all!
Miranda Maloney, Float Teacher:
Miranda Maloney has been the school yoga teacher at Woodland Montessori School for the last
two years. She is excited to serve as a new float teacher and to spend more time at Woodland.
Miranda is employed as the director of preschool programming at First Act Children’s Theatre in
Madison and directs plays for older children as well. She traveled to Rishikesh India to receive
her yoga teacher certification, the city where yoga first was created 5000 years ago. She
decided when she returned to Wisconsin that she wanted to teach yoga to children because of a
desire to bring mindfulness to people early on in their lives. She also teaches restorative
meditative yoga to adults and holds children’s yoga classes at Wishing Tree Yoga Studio in
Oregon, WI, . During her free time, she enjoys playing the guitar, being in nature and spending
time with her husband and her five year old son.
Heidi Hallmark, Bookkeeper:
I joined Woodland in 2020. I have a Bachelor's in Education from Michigan State University and have been an educator for most of my adult life. Most recently, I worked as a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor, teaching students with dyslexia how to read and spell. Concurrently, because of my love for numbers, I'm also a certified bookkeeper. I'm thankful for the position at Woodland that allows me to combine my two passions: education and bookkeeping!
Personally, I'm a single mom, homeschooling 13 year old triplets. We love all things laughing and learning and adventuring together. I'm also passionate about minimalism and travel.
