Dear Woodland Community ~

A Call To Action - It is important to take a moment to acknowledge the recent police brutality and violence in Minneapolis. Racial violence has been going on for so long, it is time to support our communities of color by acting.

Last week, the Woodland's Diversity & Equity leadership team met: this includes Lucía Ledesma, the WMS Chair of Diversity & Equity; Lisa Berry, the...

On Reading:

“This great discovery, this great emotion is one of the most wonderful feelings

humankind can have. Adults will perhaps some day recollect this marvelous fact.

"The following happened in a school: while children were beginning to learn to read, one

of the boys came to school with a folded piece of paper which he had kept in his

[pocket]. He called a dear friend and said, “Listen, you wouldn't believe it, but there is a

“The child has a different relation to his environment from ours… the child absorbs it.  The things he sees are not just remembered; they form part of his soul.  He incarnates in himself all in the world about him that his eyes see and his ears hear.” -Maria Montessori

Toddler 2 is buzzing with excitement for warmer weather which means no more bulky snow pants or obstructive mittens. In our outdoor classroom, we have been...

No doubt everyone’s attention has lately been focused on wellness, and our toddler community

is no exception. We have recently added the book “Germs Are Not for Sharing” by Elizabeth

Verdick and Marieka Heinlen to our reading corner. It is amazing how many wellness practices

currently being emphasized by health officials are the same as we learn in Toddler House: wash

your hands frequently while singing ABC two times. Catch your c...

We had a lovely pajama Pancake breakfast.  The children really enjoyed eating family style as they munched fruit salad, vegan sausage and washed it all down with orange juice!  Thanks to all the volunteers for your help it really makes all the difference to have involved family’s at Woodland.

Greetings Classroom 3 families,

Spring is in the air. As the weather changes, we will begin to spend more time in our Outdoor Classroom. One of our schools initiatives is Environmental stewardship. During many of our staff meetings and in-services days, we are consistently discussing how we can plant the seeds for children to become more environmentally aware and how they can become environmental stewards.

One of our many g...

These past couple of weeks, we have all been concentrating on getting well or staying well. We are so thankful to you, the families, for being so wonderful about keeping your children home when they are sick and need to rest.

In the classroom, we are all washing hands as throughly as ever, sanitizing all we can, and taking a break from self-serve snack, food prep, and playdough. We will do what we can, stay positive and spend e...

Dear Woodland Community ~ We continue to closely monitor the CDC and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for updates on the COVID - 19. Our highest priority is the health and well-being of our community. We wanted to take a moment to let you know what we are doing to prevent the spread of COVID - 19 in our school, as well as outline some worst case scenario guidelines should closing Woodland be advised by the public he...

Thank you to the parents that helped out with the pancake breakfast! It was a great morning. If

you haven’t already noticed mud season is here! We are looking forward to the warmer, drier

weather but it might be a few more weeks of mud! Please make sure your child has extra

clothes in their bag. Thank you Brandon Norsted for building our fabulous plexiglass easel.

The children are loving mirroring each other’s drawing. This is a g...

“ A greater curiosity arises; so it can never be satisfied; so will last through a lifetime.”

Maria Montesssori

Our days are so full! It always happens that we arrive at the end of January and it seems there are simply not enough hours in the day for all the things we want to do. Discussions we might have go deep and are more involved, explorations of new works materials or ideas grab and capture our focus. We have started taki...
