Meet Our Teachers


Kelsey - Float Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2017. Previously I was a nanny, girl scout troop leader, bible school teacher, and mentor for at risk youth. I received my Paraprofessional Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland I'm with my daughter and family, I love the outdoors and arts and crafts.

Nicole - Float Teacher

I began teaching at Woodland in August 2006. I received my AMS Birth to Three credential from Seton Institute in Chicago. At UW-Madison I studied Spanish, Psychology, and Environmental Studies. In my free time I enjoy running, camping, biking, and gardening.

Toddler 1

Becky - Toddler 1 Lead Teacher

I have been working at Woodland Montessori School since moving to Madison from Chicago in 2010. I received my Montessori Birth-to-Three certification from MECA-Seton in 2005 and have been teaching in Montessori schools ever since. My husband, Michael, writes screenplays and works on local film shoots. We love living in Madison and watching cranes, muskrats and wild turkeys walk through our backyard every day!

Carolina - Toddler 1 Assistant Teacher

I joined Woodland in the Fall of 2007. I have an associates degree in Human Services as well as my Montessori Birth-to-Three credential from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland I enjoy spending time with my family and 9 grandchildren as well as traveling with friends.

Tia - Toddler 1 Late Day Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2016. Previously, I was a Lead Teacher in an infant room. I also worked for MSCR middle and high school programs. I received my B.S. in Art Education from UW Madison. I received my Paraprofessional Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland I love to spend time with my family, reading cooking and trying new recipes and crafts.

Toddler 2

Amanda - Toddler 2 Lead Teacher

Woodland came into my life in 2013 when I accepted a part-time float position. The next year, I became the Toddler 2 Assistant Teacher and 3 years later earned my 0 - 3 AMS Montessori Credential from Seton Montessori Institute near Chicago, IL. In 2109 I took on my dream job of Toddler 2 Lead Teacher at Woodland. Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my children and husband and our two dogs in our home in Cambridge. I enjoy being outside, cooking and baking, traveling and spontaneous dance parties.

Sarah - Toddler 2 Assistant Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2014. Before Woodland I taught 7th & 8th grade Language Arts, preschool, and was an Art Teacher at the Community Art Center in Chicago. I received my M.S. in Elementary Education from DePaul and a MFA in Printmaking from the UW Madison I received my Paraprofessional Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland, I enjoy showcasing my art in many exhibits in the Midwest.

Jill - Toddler 2 Late Day Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2016 as a substitute and fell in love with the school. I have my B.S. as well as my M.S. in Special Education from the UW Madison. I have my Montessori Paraprofessional Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Prior to Woodland I was a nanny, worked in several inclusive early childhood settings, and provided therapy to children on the autism spectrum. When not at Woodland I am making art in all forms and spending time in the outdoors.

Classroom 1

Jennifer - Classroom 1 Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland in the summer of 1998. Prior to working at Woodland I was a Child Life Specialist at the Children's Hospital of WI. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and an M.S. in Montessori Education. I have both a 0-3 and a 3-6 Montessori Teaching Credential. Outside of Woodland I enjoy spending time with my family, biking, walking/running, and fun with friends and family.

Diana - Classroom 1 Assistant Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2016. Prior to moving to Madison I taught high school art in New York public schools.

I received my B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art, a Post Bachelorette in K-12 Art Education from Queens College and my M.F.A. in Painting from UW-Madison.

Outside of Woodland I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and painting.

Angie - Classroom 2 Lead Teacher

I have been teaching at Woodland for more than 10 years. I have a B.S. in Education and Psychology as well as a 3-6 Montessori Credential from Seton Montessori Institute. I consider my co-workers some of my best friends, and I am so glad my two children, Iris and Tristan, experienced all this wonderful school has to offer When not teaching, I enjoy spending time outdoors with family and friends!

Jenn - Classroom 2 Assistant Teacher

I was hired as the Float Teacher in 2011. The following year I was the Assistant Teacher in C2. After the birth of my 2nd child I took time off until the Fall of 2016. Where I assumed the Float Position again. Currently I'm the Assistant Teacher in C2. I have a B.A. in Psychology from Beloit College. Outside of Woodland I am a group exercise instructor and crossfire enthusiast. My health passion comes through in all that I do.

Mary - Classroom 2 Assistant Teacher

I found my way to Woodland Montessori School in 2012. After completing my degree in Early Childhood Education I began working with children in a variety of educational settings. I am fortunate to spend my days with a wonderful teaching team and delightful, humorous children.

Mai - Classroom 2 Late Day Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2016, before that I taught in MMSD as a 3rd grade teacher. My passion in working with children comes from getting to know their perspective and understanding of the world. I have a B.S. in Early and Middle Childhood Education from UW Madison. I received my Paraprofessional Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Lisa - Classroom 3 Co-Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2012. I had the pleasure of being raised by an amazing Mom who was an Inclusion Teacher. That experience helped grow my passion which allowed me the opportunity to work with children for the past 20+ years. I'm currently attending Seton Montessori Institute in pursuit of my 3-6 Montessori Certification. If I'm not at Woodland, I love to spend time with family and dear friends. I'm also a writer in the making, with hopes to write a book one day.

Raquel - Classroom 3 Co-Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2009. I received my 0-3 Montessori Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland I enjoy working out, cooking, camping, and spending time with my family.

Matt - Classroom 3 Late Day Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2017. Prior to that I was the primary care provider for my daughter from birth to age 2. I have also worked in after school care for public and private schools in Indianapolis. I received my Paraprofessional Certification Seton Montessori Institute, have my undergraduate degree from IU, and am in grad school at UW for social work. Outside of Woodland, I enjoy playing and recording music, watching films, cooking and hiking.

Classroom 4

David - Classroom 4 Lead Teacher

I have been teaching at Woodland Montessori School since 2003. I am the Lead Morning Teacher in Classroom 4. I completed my 3-6 AMS Montessori training in 2008 from Seton Montessori Institute in Chicago. My life outside Woodland revolves around my daughter, Luna, and my son, Solen, who both attend Woodland. I love to travel! When I'm in Madison, you can find me wherever live music is being played.

Heather - Classroom 4 Assistant Teacher

I joined Woodland in 2001. I have been teaching since 1994. I have taught children from 16 months through 2nd grade. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education from Rollins College and completed the Early Childhood Graduate program at Rollins Hamilton Holt. I also have my 0-3 Montessori Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland, my husband and I have 3 daughters, so I don't have a lot of spare time. I do enjoy volunteering and gardening.

Cari - Classroom 4 Assistant Teacher

I joined Woodland in the Fall of 1988. The children are amazing, as are my fellow staff member. I have a B. S. from the UW-Madison in Child and Family Studies and pursued my Montessori 3-6 Certification from MMTTC in Evanston, IL. When not at Woodland, you may find me at home taking care of my 5 cats or our and about, poking around Madison and its greater-metropolitan area. If you seem, wave!

Misty - Classroom 4 Inclusion Assistant/Assistant Teacher

Preschool has been my line of work for over twenty years. After moving to Madison in 2014, I discovered Maria Montessori's method to help a child create their own educational path and fell in love. Woodland has been a great place to study and practice this method, with an abundance of support and guidance as we grow as educators.

I am in the process of completing the Early Childhood certification for ages 3-6 through Seton Montessori Institute outside of Chicago. My practicum is nearing completion and this year I look forward to completing my albums that contain all of the curriculum Maria created, and finishing up my final school visit reports. I was lucky enough to complete visit #4 of 6 in Bali, Indonesia while on break! I live on the East side with my husband and quickly growing kids. We enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, and generally romping the beautiful spaces Madison offers. I look forward to learning beside your children, and sharing their experiences with you.

Adeline - Classroom 4 Late Day Lead Teacher

I have had the responsibilities of a Montessori Primary Teacher 4 years; first in the setting where I did my practicum, in London, for about a year and a half; and since then, in a school in Madison, also for a year and a half. I obtained a BA in Philosophy and a Master's Degree in Cognitive Science. I have a Montessori Early Years Educator International Diploma from the Montessori Centre International (London, UK).

Kindergarten

Ambra - Kindergarten Co-Lead Teacher

I have been with Woodland Montessori School since 2009 and am currently Woodland's Kindergarten Co-Lead Teacher and serve on the WMS Support Team. My undergraduate degree is in Environmental Education and I have a Montessori Credential from the Education Center of the Rockies. I have two energetic children who fill my life with jot. If I'm not at Woodland, you'll likely find me playing with my family, working in my gardens, or enjoying time outside.

Kate - Kindergarten Co-Lead Teacher

I joined Woodland as a Teacher in 2010. I'm lucky to be teaching at the preschool where I'm an alumnus. I have been a teacher in Elder Camp since its inception. I am working toward my Paraprofessional Certification from Seton Montessori Institute. Outside of Woodland I love hiking with my dog Toni or watching movies with my husband Andy.
